Therefore Knieper Consulting AG is getting involved with the conservation of the rainforest in Africa and the survival of the gorillas in this region.
Besides the chimpanzees gorillas are counted among our nearest relatives. Nevertheless they are poached mercilessly and corybantically. Their homeland, the last rainforests in the heart of Africa, is falling prey to axe and saw. Thus the rainforests give ever-fewer cover against poachers to the western lowland gorillas and mountain gorillas, of which only 700 specimen exist.
To protect the mountain gorillas the WWWF assists the people to find alternative income sources to hunting. Furthermore the WWF works for, that the rainforests aren’t cut down for firewood.
